i2Report Version 3 is now launched to the UK Education Market

i2Q are proud to announce the release of Version 3 of the successful web-based pupil report writing software i2Report. Collating over 7000 teachers’ feedback on how to take the hassle out of reporting, i2Report continues to reduce the time and administrative burden during reporting cycles. Whether your role is to create, check, count or collate during the process i2Report V3 has been designed to save time for all involved.

Importing assessment data eliminates copy typing for your staff and its intuitive management system allows the process of approving, editing, returning and re-approving reports a much more streamlined process. All of which is on-line so staff can complete the reporting process away from the school desk!

DfES Personalised Content Project

This project involves i2Q, Worcestershire LA, Wolverhampton LA, BECTA & Nord Anglia e-Learning. Currently resource discovery is fairly basic and relies on simple metadata describing content but no commonality between content repositories (think Curriculum Online, Commercial content and repositories such as Merlot in Canada).

The project aims to deliver a federated content subscription and resource discovery model allowing users to find and use content objects from multiple repositories via a simple API which will be integrated into the Nord Anglia e-Learning VLE (called Virtual Workspace). However, this is only half the story as whilst it is accepted that learners have differing learning styles (think Visual, Audio, Read/Write & Kinesthetic), content does not have any understanding of this and therefore content cannot be recommended or pushed to learners based on learning style. The project aims to create a fussy logic / pattern recognition layer that allows both content metadata and learner style profile to be both intelligent and adaptive to the way in way users interact and rate content and socially bookmark it. The DfES believes this is important as it fundamentally drives the personalization agenda which is why they have chosen to fund the project.

WMnet Universal File Storage Project

Just had confirmation that we have won a project we began a while ago with WmNET (with BECTA and JISC involvement) to provide a working model for an abstracted file storage and asset management solution across the region. The rational is that if you separate content and file storage from the application (think VLE or e-portfolio) then issues such as learner mobility are removed i.e. if a learner moves school or LA to an institution which uses a different VLE, the learners content would still be available to that user via the new VLE. Same for e-portfolios etc and sharing content amongst VLE's etc.
